A long awaited addition to the road network for South Australian
The upgrade, which is a 50/50 Joint Venture with Abigroup, will allow traffic to flow in both directions and is a major project for the South Australia Department of Planning, Transport and Infrastructure.
The project will include the design and construction of 18.5kms of roadway alongside the existing expressway carriageway to provide a two-way road from Darlington to Old Noarlunga to the south of Adelaide. The new carriageway will have four city-bound lanes from Darlington to Reynella and two lanes from Reynella to Old Noarlunga.
The Southern Expressway Duplication project will also include the duplication of existing interchanges, road and pedestrian bridges. Construction will start in late 2011 and is scheduled for completion by mid 2014.
The project is a major addition to Baulderstone’s extensive portfolio of landmark South Australian projects, with the company just announced as the preferred contractor for the $450m Adelaide Oval Redevelopment project. Baulderstone was also recently selected as the Managing Contractor for the $350m expansion of the Adelaide Convention Centre and the $160m Tower 8 project.
